Bingo and Common Tricks for Luck
Bingo is considered by most bingo players as a game of luck, and it is no surprise that some bingo players swear by their lucky charms, numbers, or seats as the secret to their winning streaks.
Most bingo players have lucky markers, pens, or seats, but the more traditional lucky items like lucky socks, underwear, bracelets, etc, are not uncommon. Bingo players usually carry these charms around, and if possible, put the charms prominently on display once a game is going on. Do not be surprised then, to find a pile of lucky charms cluttering bingo tables; lucky pebbles, four-leaf clovers, little stuffed toys, pieces of cloth, jewelry, pictures of loved ones...anything goes when the players are desperate to be in Lady Luck's good side.
Lucky seats are usually a common sight in bingo halls, and therefore it is important to note that if you are new player in a bingo hall, choose a seat that has not been tagged as lucky by another player, who has probably been playing in that bingo hall for a longer time than you have.
There is really no rational explanation why people would consider a seat as lucky and stick to it, but if it is pretty understandable that any bingo player would want to play sitting on a chair that you feel comfortable in.
Bingo enthusiasts are divided when it comes to the role of money in the game. Some players think that displaying money on the table during a game is bad luck and therefore would be bingo suicide, but others hold the opposite belief that displaying coins in a certain order on the table will help them win. Some players even have lucky days for bingo games and even lucky halls where they prefer to play in.
In the end, there is really no definite way of knowing if luck works in bingo, or if even works at all. But that is not stopping countless bingo players from hauling their lucky teacups, wearing their lucky sock, ties, or undies, and fighting over their lucky seat every Bingo night. As the saying goes, it is better to be safe than sorry.
One last word of caution: No matter how many lucky charms you may have on your neck and no matter how many winning streaks you've had, if you are planning to play bingo for money, you are in the wrong camp. Bingo usually carries with it a house edge of 40 percent, which basically means that the house always wins. A good strategy is to join poorly attended games and to use non-duplicate cards. And make sure that your lucky rabbit's foot is right there on the table.
