Exercise to Do While Playing Bingo
Bingo can become such an engaging game that soon you'll lose track of time and end up playing for hours. While bingo has been lauded by some scientific studies to be beneficial to your mental health, sitting down for long periods at a time can result to a few health problems too, especially if you do this often enough.
If you love your bingo and don't want to miss out on every game, here's a good way to keep the blood flowing even while you're sitting down and tending to your cards. These are a few simple and easy stretching exercises that will prevent cramps, bad posture and other results of sitting down for too long from distracting you from your game.
Shoulder rotations and shrugs This is a very simple exercise that will keep your neck muscles from tensing up. Sit up right on your chair and slowly rotate your shoulder or shrug, then relax. Do this for a couple of times until you feel your neck and shoulder muscles opening up. This also helps tone the shoulder muscles.
Leg Raises This is very easy to do, and you can do this in between games. Sit up right on your chair and place your hands on the sides of your chair for support. Make sure that both feet are in flat and in contact with the floor . With a tight stomach muscles slowly raise one leg straight, and slowly release the leg back down. Do the same with the other leg. This tones the muscles and the thighs and the hips. Do this 10 to 15 times for each leg.
Another exercise that you can do while waiting for the next game to start is the knee lift. Using a chair on either the right or left side for balance, stand straight and slowly lift your knee up , then release. Do this for 10- 15 times. Do not try to lift your knee as high as possible to avoid any injury. Once you get comfortable with the exercise you can start increasing the height of your knee raises.
A good exercise for the bum is the leg lift. Sitting down for too long can cause your bum to sag and lose its tone. To do the leg lift stand behind a chair and hold onto it for support. With the back straight extend one leg backwards and then slowly return to the original position. Do this for 10-15 times for each leg. This exercise is perfect for toning the bum and the back muscles.
There are more exercises that you can do, either sitting down or standing up, while playing bingo or waiting for a game to begin. Just remember to take things slowly and easily at first, and once you're done, you can go back to your game feeling refreshed and energized.
